Midwest Single Speed Championships 2010 – Photo Race Report

Well, after writing an entire novel for my Berryman Adventure Race Report, I promise to keep this one short.  In fact, I’ll let the photos do most of the talking.  So here’s the race report for the Midwest Single Speed Championships that were held on August 22nd, 2010 at Binder Lake in Jefferson City, MO.  Take a look…

Early 90's Specialized Rock Hopper Single Speed

Here is my early 90's Rockhopper Single Speed. She goes by Dolly.

Two-Thirds of the Brothers Lamb - And yes my nipple is hard.

Single Speed Championship after-party

Binder Lake is a perfect venue for the post-race party.

Jackson and Eli at the SS Champs

My nephews, Jackson and Eli, enjoying the post-race food. Eli is a ham.

Zack drinking Four Loco

We bought the Four Loco for Bob, but he didn't get off of work in time. Zack got tired of waiting.

Nick tries Four Loco

Chris Bopp watches Nick sample the Four Loco.

The Mitch Four Loco

The Mitch has a sip too.

Sydney on the podium

A sign of things to come - Sydney on the podium.

Clean up at the MWSSC

Clean up was easy since Casey F. Ryback told the kids that the one who picked up the most cans would win money.

Playing with these boys is like feeding a stray cat... Once you do it, they'll never leave you alone as Matt found out when they repeatedly tried to hit him in the pills.

Empties at the SS Championships

A good time was had by all.

PBR Wristband

Jim Davis makes good on his promise to reward Bob's efforts at the Leadville 100 with a sweet PBR wrist band.

Bob and Nick at the MWSSC

The pre-match face-off... Or a man hug.

Bob wins the wrestling match

Somehow I failed to get any shots of the rematch from last year's wrestling match between Bob and Nick, but clearly Bob was victorious.

Bob as Urkel

Bob had to make sure his boys were still there since Nick is known worldwide as a dirty fighter.

Storm and Bob at the MWSSC

Storm and Bob at the end of the evening - Storm felt a little rough.

It was really hot, but the course was in great shape.  I finished my three laps, but I was pretty close to last place.  Zack did much better than I did, but I have no idea what the official results were.

Thanks to Red Wheel Bike Shop for putting this event on.  It was an absolute blast.

As you can see by the photos above, it was one helluva day.  The race was great, and the post-race festivities were even better.  You really need to make sure you are at this race next year.  It keeps getting better.
