Just for Fun Friday – One Flag to Rule Them All Edition

Well, we decided to do a Team Virtus Fantasy Football League in an effort to build team camaraderie, because, you know, we really don’t like each other very much.

We didn’t have quite enough for a 10-team league, so we agreed to let the future Mrs. Jenkins (Cara) and the future Mrs. Laffoon (Michelle) into the league.

Cara proved to be no serious threat since she completely neglected her team, and she never, literally never, set her lineup. In her defense, though, Bob only set his lineup once.

Michelle, however has made the playoffs, and Adam did not. Therefore, he is obviously fired from the team.

The Lambs have dominated the regular season, and they round out the other three spots in the playoffs. I will play Casey this week, and Darin (he’s my cousin, so he is half Lamb) will play Michelle.

Other than pride, fame, and glory, we’ll be playing for this bad boy:

Fantasy Football Flag

Rusty just missed the playoffs with a record of 8-6. Adam managed to squeak out a 500 record at 7-7. Then we had Robby at 6-8, Bob at 5-8, Drew at 3-11, and Cara at a lowly 1-13.

It’s been a lot of fun, and I apologize to Casey in advance for crushing him this weekend. I can’t wait to display my new Champion’s Flag. I will be bringing it with me to every adventure race in the future. And yes, I will be signing autographs.

  1. I think what you’re missing here is that Cara won a game, only two shy of Drew’s result, with no effort whatsoever. That’s pretty impressive. Well done Cara, well done.

My husband is fairly knowledgeable about football and a huge fan, and he got his ass handed to him by our 10 year old nephew. I wasn’t invited to play; otherwise, my mad “I’m drafting the cutest QB/best jersey/favorite city” skillz would have dominated.

    • You’re right. Cara is basically as good as Drew when it comes to fantasy football… Without trying. Drew used to play in a league with some of us with money in the line. We used to call him our money donor. Yes, he’s that bad.

And sometimes not knowing anything about football is beneficial. You could definitely beat Drew with your strategy.

  2. Just to give an update….It looks as though it will not be a family showdown in the finals. Why is that you might ask? Because team Virtus made the mistake of asking me to play in the league this year. Yeah, thats right, I won this week and plan on rolling over Luke next week. Much like the Chiefs did to green bay today.
Luke, please get the flag ready, I hear it calling my name.

    • As if we needed another reason tire fire Adam’s Packer-loving ass from this team.

Luke, it’s up to you now. No pressure.

      • Not to worry, as the last Virtusan standing, I will vanquish my foe. I gave her the first taste of defeat earlier this year after she bragged about being undefeated, and I’ll destroy her again. We have a side wager – Loser buys the winner lunch at Chipotle. I can’t wait to eat a free burrito.

And if Michelle somehow finds a way to cheat and win, I will indeed get the flag ready for her… In my own way. Muha… Muha… Muwahahahahahahahaha!!!

        But seriously. I’ll win.

        • My team was decimated by injuries. I lost Fred Jackson and Matt Forte, plus I Adrian Peterson is injured and limited. The title was mine if it weren’t for injuries. Hell, if it weren’t for injuries the post season would be much more interesting as I would be watching my beloved Bears. Next year.

  3. It could be worse, Casey…you could be a Rams fan. Sigh
