Just for Fun Friday – Ride with Us Edition
First, I’d like to say on behalf of all of Team Virtus and Adam, merry Christmas to all of you crazed Virtusites out there! We truly hope you have the best Christmas ever. Enjoy this time with loved ones. I know I will.
Secondly, I’d like to cordially invite all of you to a group ride on the one and only Berryman Trail on January 14th, 2012.
I’d like to get a fairly early start, but it will have to be after we register for the Dirty Kanza 200. Registration for DK opens at 6:00 AM EST (That’s 5:00 AM for us) on the morning of the 14th. I’m going to need to be somewhere with access to an internet connection at that time, so the ride will start after that. I have family that lives close to Steelville, so maybe I can crash there so we can get an earlier start. I’m thinking about trying to start the ride between 8:00 and 9:00 AM.
Let’s start 2012 off right with an epic group ride. And if you need some reasons to ride with a group, here you go. We’ve already got some people ready to ride together on the 14th. Some Wahoos, some Hoosier Daddies, and an Offroad Medic are planning on joining us. Why don’t you?
If you have any questions, drop a comment below or check in with us on Facebook or Twitter. We hope to see you there! And once again, merry Christmas!!!!

Dang! I sell my mountain bike to fund a gravel crushing cross bike and all of these group Mtb rides keep poping up! I’m looking forward to some DK training rides. Solo night rides are getting a bit old! Oh, and keep in mind that the DK registration opens at 6am EST, so 5am for us!
Jim, we can probably find a spare mountain bike for you to ride if you wanna go. Just let us know.
I’ve got that old Hardrock he can ride…or maybe my GT. I might just try to do this on my cross bike too.
There’s also the Joe Dirt ride to think about on Sunday, the 15th.(http://gravelgrinder.blogspot.com/) That ride is always good, but I dont know if I can handle it the day after a Berryman trip.
Only one way to find out 🙂
Oh, and good point about the Eastern Time. I’ve edited the post above. Thanks!
Just ride your cross bike. It’ll be fine;)
Great idea! When Bob tried his cross bike on the Berryman, it lasted maybe a mile. But then again, Bob isn’t exactly easy on his bikes, is he?
MONSTERCROSSS!!!!
True, and the lighter weight of the cross bike would allow me to carry a mountain bike as back up and a splint kit to treat my fractured taint.
Sounds fun but i will be LEAVING FOR AFRICA on that day. Enjoy!!
Emily, I can’t believe you’re really going to skip a ride with us just to go climb a silly little hill called KILIMANJARO!!! Best of luck to you, and I can’t wait to read all about it.
Looks like we have four Hoosier Daddies that have commited so far. Can’t wait, should be an awesome ride!
I think I’m in! 🙂
Aw snap! This sh*t just got serious!!!
We just have to make sure Adam doesn’t find out about it.
I have already taken off work, and will be along for the ride.
Man, I have got to make it to this thing, sounds like there is going to be a big turnout, I guess I better get to finding parts for the new bike.
Hey Travis, maybe we can re-visit the Atresian well and re-ride our Berryman route. Wait, screw that idea. LMAO
If you can’t get it put together you can borrow one of my rigs
Bob I might just take you up on that offer. Yeah we can take everyone on the route we took, not the actual race route and let them enjoy what we saw, it would be epic, we could even show them our bushwack route. Hahahaha
Looks like Jim is going to try and make it also.
Where are you guys meeting at for the Berryman ride? I have only ridden Berryman twice and that was for the last two ARs. BTW, thanks to Luke for teaching us how to plot points at 10:00pm the night before the 2011 Berryman Adventure. We ended up plotting all points correctly but still looked like Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles navigating. Unless something comes up, a couple of us are planning on meeting up with you guys on the 14th.
Thanks,
John Wilson (team 2 Richard Noggins)
I’m not sure what Luke has planned. I believe his computer took a turn for the worse, so it might take him a minute to get back to us. I’m like you, I’ve only been out there a few times, and only to race. I’m kinda excited to get out there and ride at a “fun” pace instead of a race pace.
Hey John,
No problem on the help with plotting points. I’ve been there before, man. Staring at the map, trying to plot points, and not feeling very confident about it.
We really hope you can make it on the 14th. It sounds like there are going to be a lot of people going.
I was thinking about meeting at the Berryman Campground at 8:00 or so, and we’ll try to leave between 8:30 and 8:45. Keep an eye on this site or our facebook page for any other updates.
And by the way… I love the name of your team.
Hope there is plenty of room for a few strays….
Absolutely! The more the merrier! There will be a blog post up soon with more details on the ride.
