Kicks in the Sticks is this weekend

At long last, a competitive trail run has made its way to Jefferson City. This weekend, the Kicks in the Sticks is going to happen and I’ll be there with my super-hot feyoncee, (yes, I spelled it wrong on purpose), on a quest for trail running glory. I fully plan to dominate the 30-39 y/o male  260+lbs category….if there is one. If there isn’t, I think all of us fatties should throw $5 in a hat and let the winner take all.

Who else is going?

Rumor has it our man Brandon Lepage will be making his triumphant return to the race scene, and it’ll be nice to see that guy again.

Red shorts make you faster

If you live in Jeff City/Columbia, there’s really no reason to miss this event.  Come on out and support local racing; if we’re lucky this will be the first of many. I’ve heard rumors of free beer at this race..

Can’t get this thing to blow up any bigger for some reason.

In case you can’t read the flyer, info can be found at and .

Looking forward to the “race” this weekend too! I fully expect to walk part of the 7.5 mi, but I’m ok with that. Kicking off the last year of my 30’s in the sticks – what could be better!

  2. Well if Brandon’s racing, I can’t miss it, right? Who needs skin on their legs? 🙂 See you Saturday!

  3. I won’t be able to make it this weekend, and I hate to miss a local race. It’s our last chance to do a mini-family-vacation before school starts, so that’s what I’ll be doing. Good luck to everyone that races. Sunday night after work, I’m going to be running/jogging/walking 12 miles if anyone wants to join me.

  4. I’m planning to do this race. Then the next day there’s a ride at Middlefork. Anyone going to that?

    • I have to work on Sunday or I’d go. I haven’t been to Middlefork in a long time. Too long. I need to go back.

      • Cara and I are hoping to hit up Middlefork, but it’s kinda up in the air right now.(Wedding stuff and whatnot) Who all is going to that?

I’d like to get her out there so she can see the waterfall, but it’s highly likely she’d need to turn back from there.

I really wanted to camp at Council Bluff saturday night, but the K.I.T.S. starts too late in the evening for that.

Good luck TV! I wish I could make it. Trail races are my favorites. So which of you will be racing the Skippo with Kage this Fall? I look forward to meeting some of you in person.

    • So far, just Luke…but I know Bob really really wants to race it as is going to sign up. 🙂

    • Yup, I’m the one who stupidly signed up for the Skippo 30K. I’m sure Bob will at least do the 20K, and Drew might sign up (even though I haven’t talked to him about it).

I look forward to meeting you too. Although, I hope we meet before the race since I might die before it’s over.

  6. The only running I have been doing is to the store to get more beer

  7. James Browning

Awesome! While it might be difficult to drink beer out of it, won’t Bob be disappointed if he doesn’t get a sweet “large finisher’s” belt buckle (as described on the website) for the 30K? I mean, that might make a nice wedding gift for his bethrothed.

    • Finisher’s buckle? Sold! I just put my name on the waiting list; I’m sure there’ll be a few dropouts.

Seems to me it’s time we put together a trail run non-race. That’s got to be easier than putting together an entire AR.

      • I would be so interested in a trail run non-race (and why wouldn’t you throw in some MTB just for fun?) that I am giddy just thinking about it. Perhaps in the St. Louis area – sort of in the middle of TV’s and Kage’s ‘hoods? I have several non-racers that would just love this. Count me in for helping to organize and execute.

  8. I’m not sure how triumphant the return was, but a return none the less! Dude don’t be jealous of the red shorts, you know you want a pair!
