Running for (or away from) Tramp Stamps

In case you missed it over the last few weeks, Bob has become a runner.  Since coming clean about his current condition in one of this site’s most open and honest posts, Bob has turned a new leaf.  Sure he’s started over before and had ups and downs.  So have I.  Haven’t we all?  It’s called life, people.

But this time, Bob seems different.  He seems ready to make lasting change.  In mid-June he set a goal of running 50 miles by August 15th.  But that bar was set way too low.  He completely smashed it by hitting 50 miles on Monday, July 15th (congrats, Dude!).

Instead of celebrating his victory and going back to his old ways, though, Bob upped the ante by doubling down, so to speak.  He vowed to run a total of 100 miles by August 15h.

 Stretching before running

Bob stretching before his run. Who knew excessive running leads to hair loss?

Bob’s confidence must have been quite high when he wrote that post, because he said he was willing to take on a bet.  It probably comes as no surprise, but Bob and I have a hard time turning down bets like this.  And I’m sure you all know how our last bet turned out:

Gold Speedo

Kate looks creeped out, Bob looks terrified, and I look like I’m so happy I’m not wearing a gold Speedo.

I was truly happy that Bob was achieving so much success, and after reading about Bob’s new challenge,  I was very inspired as well.  And I knew exactly what I had to do.

So without thinking, I said I could double his mileage.

Between July 14th and August 15th, I will need to run twice as many miles as Bob does.  After agreeing to some rules (all runs have to be posted so the other person knows the total at all times being the main one), we were all set… Except we didn’t know what the stakes were.  So we turned to all the Virtusites on Facebook for some ideas (yet another reason to like us on facebook – you get to play choose your own adventure with idiots).

So right now, the loser of this bet will have to get a Henna Tattoo on his lower back.  The tattoo will contain the winner’s name worked into a design chosen by the winner.  That’s right, one of us will be sporting a temporarily permanent Tramp Stamp, and I can guarantee you there will be photos… And video.  So stay tuned for that.

And to add insult to injury, Bob didn’t think that was enough.  After throwing around some ideas (one of which would have been awesome but too offensive even for us), we settled on having the loser race in Pink Panties at the Thunder Rolls Adventure Race on August 24th.  You know, to show off the beautiful Tramp Stamp.

If you want to track our progress, you can follow along right here.  Bob is taking this shit very seriously, and I’m pretty sure I’m doomed.  But it will be great motivation for both of us, and it will help get me ready to pace my brother Zack at the Leadville 100 Trail Run on August 17th!!!  How cool is that?

So… Tell us who you think will win?  Me?  Or Bob?

  1. I think you’re toast. But I thought that last year, too. But no matter who wins, once again I’ll be laughing my ass off during Thunder Rolls.

Here’s hoping yellow jackets avoid pink.

  2. I think you’re toast as well, but good luck. I can only imagine the amount of mileage going to be run the last week or so by both of you lol.

  3. I don’t think I’d call myself a runner just yet, but we’ll get there. When I cross the 100 mile mark, I seriously want to have a huge party.

I love it that you capitalized “Pink Panties.” You should probably start looking for a comfy pair of them.

  4. Bob is going to win, hope you enjoy being on even more gay porn sites. Wait, I hope you don’t. Bob is still going to win though.

  5. My money is on Luke. Bob is the odds on favorite but if Luke decides not to lose he’ll find a way to log the mileage. Is there any injury clause? By ramping up your guys mileage so fast it has to be a real concern.

    • You should never gamble, Casey. Bob should win this one easily. And injury is definitely a concern. But as Bob would say, “It’ll work itself out.”

      • I’m willing to alter the bet if you think I have too much of an advantage.

        • Bob…seriously? It’s a bet. It’s made. Let Luke sleep in the bed he’s made for himself…or, in this case, race in the pink panties he’s earned. 🙂

          • Hmm… I think Maw Maw wants to see me in Pink Panties. You are sick and twisted, Kate. Very sick and twisted.

I don’t want to alter the bet. It is what it is at this point.

      • Glad I didn’t show my confidence in you by jumping into this bet. If you are coninved you’re going to lose, Bob has already won. I say you should watch Victoria’s Secret for a Pink Panties sale. Maybe even get a BOGO deal.

        • I haven’t given up. I’ll do my best to win this thing, but I’m just being a realist. The entire last week of the bet, I’ll be taking it easy so I can pace Zack at Leadville. So I’m pretty much screwed. I didn’t realize I’d be pacing for Zack when I made the bet, but a bet’s a bet. Bob never shied away from his Speedo bet, and I’m not about to with this one.

I’ll try to keep it as close as I can until that last week, and then it’ll probably get ugly. We’ll see what happens. But wearing sexy underwear and showing off a tramp stamp is a small price to pay to help keep Bob and me motivated and to get to be a pacer at Leadville.

          • Let’s change the last day of the bet to August 7th, and if I don’t get to 100… I lose regardless. That seems like a pretty solid challenge for all parties involved.

            • NO WAY, man! A bet’s a bet. Don’t count me out just yet. The odds are stacked in your favor, but I’m not going to give up, and I’m not going to alter the bet. You’re still going to have to work for it.

            • Orrrrrr….if Bob doesn’t make it to 100 he loses too. But if you don’t double him you also have to wear a pair. Maybe you guys can get a volume discount. 🙂

            • Man oh man! You’re sucker than I thought! The Gold Speedo wasn’t enough for you? Now you want to see BOTH of us in Pink Panties?!?! I’m not sure I can race with you anymore.

  6. Instead of having the winner design the tattoo, you should have our followers submit their own designs and the winner gets to pick the design he likes best. As a bonus, the winning design gets a signed photo of you two and the Pink Panties.

So if Bob gets to 100 miles and you double his mileage who wins? Or loses?

    • It will actually be 50 miles from this point on for Bob to hit a total of 100 miles. But I figure he’ll easily hit that. So I have to double whatever he tallies from July 15th on or I lose.

  8. I know how dedicated (stubborn) Luke is to bet against him. However, he does pull off a pair of pink panties. Wait, that came out wrong. He looks pretty hot in pink panties.

  9. What are the specifics on the panties? Bikini? Thong? Granny Panties? Any specifics other than pink?
